Clinical Microbiomics at IHMC 2022

This week, Dr. H. Bjørn Nielsen, our CSO, and Jessica Lin, Business Development Manager, attended the International Human Microbiome Consortium congress  (IHMC) in Kobe, Japan.

IHMC is considered the leading forum for microbiome science, gathering hundreds of renowned scientists and researchers from both academia and industry.

We presented two posters at the congress showcasing novel bioinformatics tools for analyzing and understanding microbiome and metabolome data and for discovering new therapeutic leads:

  • “An online atlas of human plasma metabolite signatures of gut microbiome composition” together with Koen Dekkers, presenting the GUTSY atlas and first results from the large population-based Swedish CArdioPulmonary bioImage Study (SCAPIS) cross-sectional study.
  • “Using cross-cohort microbiome data for LBP discovery”, presenting a novel approach for identifying new therapeutic microbes leveraging our microbiome data warehouse, clonal-level microbiomics and analysis of clade-specific genetic features.

Many thanks to the organizers, presenters and attendees for the many interesting presentations and great conversations. It was a truly inspiring conference. See you in 2024!
